Manager of Public Engagement and Community Programs

The Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA) seeks a highly organized and creative Manager of Public Engagement and Community Programs.

The Manager of Public Engagement and Community Programs will develop and execute public and community programs in response to the Museum’s collections, exhibitions on view, and core programmatic tenets. With a focus on community gatherings and interdisciplinary activities, OCMA’s programs are designed to foster creativity, strengthen family and community bonds, and support mental health and wellness. The Manager of Public Engagement and Community Programs is an active position, one that thrives on engagement with the public and works at the intersection of art and audiences. Programs managed and run by the position include, but are not limited to, monthly family programming, teen focused events, art-making activities, film series, large-scale music and DJ performances, among others.

The successful candidate will maintain an awareness of local, national, and global contemporary art and cultural trends and have a passion and interest in cultivating and sustaining relationships with individuals, cultural organizations, community agencies, and academic institutions in and across Orange County. The position is responsible for the execution of a balanced programming calendar, ensuring that people of all ages and abilities can form their own interpretations and connections to art by telling stories, asking questions, actively making and participating in the artistic process, and offering and listening to multiple perspectives.

The Museum’s Security Team works closely together to ensure effective security operations.

Director of Collections and Exhibitions

The Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA), located on the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus in Costa Mesa, California, seeks an experienced, highly motivated professional for the position of Director of Collections and Exhibitions to supervise the documentation of the Museum’s physical and intellectual collections, archives and library holdings.

This position will oversee the Museum’s collections, artwork on loan to the Museum from other institutions and private collectors shown through in-house temporary exhibitions, permanent collection exhibitions, and outside travelling exhibitions.

The Director of Collections and Exhibitions also has primary responsibility for overseeing the research, content development and the Museum’s collection management procedures, including registration, conservation, environment and risk management.

Museum Janitor

The Orange County Museum of Art, located on the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus in Costa Mesa, California, seeks experienced and detail oriented individuals to join its team as Museum Janitor.

Museum Janitors will perform the critical task of maintaining an exceptionally high quality of cleanliness of the Museum building and a strict adherence to safety.

Graphic and Web Designer

The Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA), located on the Segerstrom Center for the Arts campus in Costa Mesa, California, seeks a highly effective, experienced Graphic and Web Designer. Housed within the Curatorial Department the Graphic and Web Designer works with the Museum’s brand and identity, exhibitions, marketing campaigns, membership, public programs, education and learning initiatives, as well as all other communications across the museum.

This position will be responsible for designing a variety of digital and analog communications from concept to completion, including email campaigns, web-based and print advertising, design for social media platforms and video titles, institutional signage, posters, exhibition graphics, brochures, print invitations and mailers, publications, and environmental graphics.

To be successful in this role, you must have design and production experience for an art museum, art gallery, artist-centered studio, or art publication studio.

In addition, you must be able to conceptualize design solutions that prioritize user experience, clear visual communication, contemporary design aesthetics, and the brand identity of the Museum, drawing on deep knowledge of typography, composition, design systems, and other core principles of design, and must have a strong understanding of the technical aspects of designing dynamic assets and a personal interest in exploring opportunities for engagement in digital experiences and communications within a Museum environment.

The idea candidate will have experience maintaining and updating websites, employing knowledge of current developments and trends in digital design to create integrated and dynamic design solutions that advance the Museum’s online practice, will work closely with the CEO and Director, Director of Learning & Engagement, Chief Curator, and other OCMA team members, to advise on current best practices in digital design.
